Tenerife Airport Disaster: How It Happened And What We Learned
Fog in Tenerife played a part in the disaster - the pilots could not see each other (simpleflying.com) Ещё...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Hindsight, always 20/20. Both aircraft should have taxied and turned off the runway at #4 and told to hold short. Due to reduced visibility, and after air traffic had confirmed both aircraft nose to tail on the taxiway, KLM could then go to position and hold. Sometimes ATC just has to take control and dictate what works best for them, either the above or send the aircraft down for takeoff one at a time and the heck with impatient flight crews. Just an opinion.
Would you have posted this if it involved Airbus aircraft?
