2nd Southwest 737-MAX8 flight doesn't go over so well on its first day in service.
Southwest's 2nd Max8 flight didn't really go over so well. N8707P operating SWA2 (WN2) from Houston to San Antonio ended up being delayed 4 hours and 3 minutes late due to a mechanical issue on the aircraft. After hours of waiting at the gate and an attempted departure N8707P was switched out for maintenance with a regular 737-800 which completed the flight. Boeing is a classic case of management failure, joins the ranks of IBM, Xerox, Polaroid and, Kodak, they made a place for them selves in business text books.
Blaming Boeing management for a flight delay is like blaming an entire education system for an uninformed post. The MAX met and surpassed its program milestones and delivered on-time. Bloomberg reports near 99.7% dispatch reliability and Leehman Bros. reports better than predicted efficiency in its first 5 months of service.
Yup! Doing a terrible job?? Stock price for last 52 weeks-$131 to $259. Closed Friday 10-6-17 at 258.58. Keep up the good work guys, whatever it is that you're doing. I'm lovin' it!
Yet, they still somehow make and sell airplanes, and are coming out with new technologies to stay with the times... Despite whatever inner turmoil they may have going on, it seems to pretty-much stay out of the products.
First commercial flight for the aircraft, but NOT its first flight by a about 14 hrs.
