My thoughtd go out to the families of all.
Do not know what happened though I've read that the plane could not gain altitude after rotation, but I've always looked at the Yak-42 as a very slugish under powered A/C, even though it is a tri-motor. I hope they do find the cause quickly, and I do agree that this type should be retired

this should be lesson for all - never have all of your team mates fly in the same plane, it happened in Smolensk last year and now this - RIP to all
KauaiGolfer, that was the larger Yak-42 which is a trijet. It is large enough for a team and equip. Fingers are pointing to a possible fire on takeoff.
the plane involved was RA-42434, not 3 in the end.
