wow, how did you get the planes to stop in the air like that? just kidding, great shot, nice job and looks awesome. :)

Cool shot! Looks like LAX considering the background and the Virgin America plane.

@Saurabh
Are they flying in formation at an airshow?

Not a fan of Airbus; but will admit that is a great photo

Hi John, these are regular 28L/R arrivals at SFO. they usually have parallel arrivals. The best however is the 01L/R simultaneous departures. Two aircraft takeoff and then bank away steeply. Its like an airshow all day at SFO :).

Wow. I thought of that as the other possibility but then thought "Nah, too close together." That is really a great shot there and the fact that it was not an airshow makes it that much better! Excellent job.

Ah, ol' 651AW, flown it many times! It's a former America West plane, now USAirways. 150 passenger, with IAE A5 engines. Good ship.

Thanks, awesome pic!

@John Jurik, I used a Canon 40D with the 100-400 Prime Lens.

That is a great pic. Just curious, but how close were they? Guess no sweat on turbulence?

@Richard, in SFO, the 28's are 750 feet apart.

750 feet apart? that is too close for comfort. Then again, the camera angle makes them look closer. What happens when a good gust of surface cross-wind kicks up when they are landing?

Here is another illusion I captured at SFO. The CRJ seems like a sticker on the 777 :)
