Another FedEx 722 donated to education
In my hometown!! It's the largest aircraft to ever land on KGMU's 5400' runway. "After arriving from the FedEx hub in Indianapolis, the 727 will be towed to its permanent home at USAeroTech, where students there will learn about the mechanical aspects of large aircraft. LOL, you aint the only one... She was truly a plane that could take a licking and keep on ticking... A lot better than any Energizer bunny I know of. Truly the prettiest airliner ever manufactured... I would have loved to see 3 CFM-56's mounted on the tail, or maybe 2 CFM 56's with a JT8 in the center... But Boeing decided not to go that route.
Hey FEDEX, I'll take one of those MD-11's when you decide to donate those out
FedEx donated 2 727's to our university in Anchorage & Fairbanks. UAA aviation dept. is located at Merrill Field which has a runway of 4000 feet. The pilots landed using about 2200 feet of runway
I've seen the footage over on youtube..I actually think someone posted it on here in the past.
Me too. Pretty cool.
GOD, I'm REALLY feeling my age... :(
