Video of ANA hard landing resulting in fuselage damage
An ANA 767 had a hard landing that crumpled the fuselage. "Google Translate" translation of the Japanese video description: 20 minutes around 1 pm 20 Sun, (193 passengers and crew) All Nippon Airways Boeing 767 flight 956 from Beijing, at the time of landing big swing to the Narita Airport, damaged a portion of the fuselage on impact when landing. There was no injury to the occupant guests - It. Discovered the injury had been a mechanic inspect the aircraft after landing. Have been… (www.youtube.com) Ещё...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
The pilot porpoised on landing. The nose gear is classified as an auxiliary gear designed to aid in maneuvering on the ground. It is not a landing gear. Early 767-300s had a weak spot in the fuselage where you see the damage. American Airlines has had 2 767-300s damaged. The first was in South America and the second was in London. I saw that airplane as it taxied in. American ferried both airplanes back to Tulsa and replaced that section of the fuselage. The temp repair to ferry consisted of 4 long (20ft plus) angle iron pieces placed lengthwise on the fuselage and bolted through the fuselage to large steel plates inside. Good for one takeoff and one landing. The longest lead time part was the new fuselage section from Japan because it had to have American's polished aluminum skin.
Robert: Got a stupid question. I am assuming they had to stop somewhere coming in. Do you know if they had to re-do those plates on that intermediate stop or were they for the whole trip.lol
Based on the damage view from the video, I wondered if that plug section could be replaced. It's odd, the hard landing looked to be well within the parameters of a hard test landing that Boeing would conduct themselves in the development process. I guess it won't "buff right out". Do 757s have the same issue, or just the widebodies?
I'm shocked that the nose strut and tires took that.
What? No law suits? - Oh, wait...It wasn't american.
lol, so true. ignore the haters.
