Dreamliner returns to Moscow after toilet malfunction
There are more hiccups for the Boeing Dreamliner. New problems with at least two 787s have been reported during the past 36 hours, according to various media reports. And another carrier says it will take one of its 787s out of service for "preventative" checks. Two of latest problems involved both involved Japan Airlines (JAL) Dreamliners that had to return after "technical problems," the BBC reports. (www.usatoday.com) Ещё...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
"Time was..."
That was a LONG time ago. Cabin crew responsibility nowadays is to check required safety equipment, and they DO NOT have responsibility to verify all seatback pocket contents!! This ain't the era of the DC-3 anymore.
In any event, this article discusses a multitude of issues, and cabin convenience items failing (which MIGHT have worked prior to departure, therefore your rant is superfluous) is over-shadowed by the Anti-Ice failure that was also mentioned.
This indicates an electrical problem, and could be related, depending on the electrical schematic and distribution.

I'd be much more concerned with the de-icing system failure than the non-functioning crapper.
Agreed.
But people voted down the earlier squawk that mentioned both the engine deicing system and the crapper. Then this duplicate squawk that has toilet malfunction in its' title gets voted up.
Go figure.

This is such a NON-STORY!!
Boeing does NOT have responsibility for the final interior arrangements of their jets, THAT is decided by the buyer/customer, and is contracted with other vendors.

"toilets became unable to be used and the device to heat meals also had a problem,"
Um, isn't that called an oven?
Time was when the cabin crew boarded early and made sure all the provisions were on board, the seats all worked, the restrooms were clean and tested. Seatback contents were all in place. Hot and cold water worked, and all galley systems were "go flight" before passengers boarded. How much does it cost for a return to the airport? A lot more than a proper preflight check.
