pretty nice. why is the shuttle's front gear shorter than the rear gear
Probably to make sure they don't do a 3 point landing. It is a gliding brick after all.
I'm guessing the angle assists in aerodynamic braking after landing.
It seems like the mating took two days if I count the periods of sunlight and darkness correctly. I'm guessing they have check lists to remind them to use check lists. Why did they have to turn the tug around? (frame 153) It wasn't for the gantry crane, that was drive through. Are they paying all the people observing the mating or are they just voyeurs?
Mark, they probably pulled the 747 a long distance which is much easier to do with the tug facing forward. Fine-tuning it's final "parking" is much easier to do with the tug facing rearward and the turning wheels closer to where the towbar attaches.
