Do you know how long the E-2 has been in service? I don't recall the exact service date of the first E-2A but it was the early 1960's or before. I do know for certain that the computer on board, a Litton built machine called the L-304, used a rotating drum storage system as the heart of the ATDS (Airborne Tactical Data System)
