Comments
Rod Lewis is our hero!
One of my favourite aircraft ð
Beautiful! Flew on a Connie out of the Sandpoint Naval Air station in the mid 1950s.
Flew on one from Tachikawa AFB to Wake Island to Hickam Field Hawaii to California. 1961 Loved every minute of it.
Saturday's Departure....
wish it had made a highspeed pass for us but I guess right in the middle of the Air Show.
Great shot Todd.

Most Iconic Piston Engine Airplane , and Recognized with the Three Radars . Beautiful Photo.
@terry kelsey Tachikawa, haven't heard that in a LONG time. And you did it 2 years before I was born! Happy Veteran's Day to you sir!
The first flight of my life was in a Trans Canada Airlines Constellation across the Atlantic, in 1960: Halifax - Prestwick - London. It might have been the one in the Museum in Seattle.
Thomas Shenstone - any relation to Beverley Shenstone the Supermarine aerodynamicist?
Coincidentally I live in Halifax and just flew to London.

What a great photo of a great airplane!
Absolutely LOVE this plane and this shot.
one awesome majestic airplane.
Flew a Picket Aircraft out of Otis AFB. Great aircraft.
Beautiful aircraft!
It looked so large in its time! Beautiful airplane
Beautiful. Original Queen of the Sky.
such a gorgeous aircraft thanks for posting
Flew as F/O on Eastern Air Lines Connies before they were retired in '67. Way better looking aircraft than how it flew especially if the control boost was turned off or failed. Then it became a two pilot machine to fly. Not complaining really, she was one helluva a ride for a 22yo kid to get his hands on.
I flew as a crewmember on the Pacific Routes from 1958-1960 with VR-7 in Air Force markings, but they were never painted as nice as this.
Great photo.
Great photo.
The first time I ever flew on an airplane was on a TWA Super Constellation in about 1956 when I was 9 years old. I had been visiting my grandparents in Kansas and flew from Kansas City back home to Las Vegas. I only remember that the flight was uneventful and the flight attendants paid a lot of attention to me and made sure I had anything I needed. They also escorted me into the cockpit where I got to see what the pilots did. Special memory!
Lockheed 'Skunk Works' used 3 of these for 'local shuttle service' for folks working on the Black Birds. Great airplanes; nice photo!
I had a feeling this photo would draw some interest, but this is great thank you all for the positive comments and personal experiences.
The Connie is classic. Pick 5 airframes that are iconic and awesome, she's one. Nice shot!
Beautiful aircraft and a superb shot.
My uncle flew those beautiful machines for Lufthansa.
I flew to Mcmurdo Station in the Antarctic on a AirDevRon6 C121. Smoothest landing I've ever had on an ice runway! You couldn't tell when the wheels touched down.
Great shot ! Like a flying dolphin.
