Photographer: Carson Zabel.
Thank you to Scott Slocum for setting up the photo mission opportunity, the pilots, and the owners.
Comments
Dynamic, almost wartime era looking shot of an Allison powered P-51 that you don't get to see to often.
Picture of the week.
#13 is the North Amarican A-36 Apache. The North American A-36 was the ground-attack/dive bomber version of the North American P-51 Mustang, from which it could be distinguished by the presence of rectangular, slatted dive brakes above and below the wings. A total of 500 A-36 dive bombers served in the Mediterranean

Fantastic photo and a history lesson at the same time!
Definitely a P-51A - A-36's have 50 cal. 'chin' guns.
Reminds me of the Reno Air Races in the 70s with Mike Loaning and his beatiful P-51. Thanks for the memory.
Great photo!
One of my favourites.
One of my favoutite aircraft. Fantastic pic.
Awesome. One of my favourites.
These Birds were true game changers in the war.
Nice pic!! I do like the look of the early Stangs the most.
