Ryanair close to placing new $10 billion Boeing order
PARIS/DUBLIN (Reuters) - European low-cost airline Ryanair is in advanced talks to buy around 100 of a high-density version of Boeing's 737 MAX jetliner in a potential $10 billion deal that could be finalised within weeks, two people familiar with the matter said. I think by now everyone knows that Ryanair is "the Spirit Airlines" of the U.K. I don't think Boeing or Airbus should allow their planes to be packed with so many seats, but money talks, and nothing screams louder than multi-billion dollar aircraft orders.
On top of that, if they stayed just under the 200 seat mark, they'd just work the FA's harder as they would not have to have the extra one that 200 would require.
Ryanair's load factor is between 89 and 93%. The Brits seem to like misery. And, if they are true to form, there will be only one bathroom and a small charge to use it. As for negative comments about Boeing/Airbus. Don't sweat it. You go where the money takes you to survive.
BTW - before I get swamped with Airbus/Boeing comments, this is not a dig at Boeing, only Ryanair.
