Pakistanis angered by new airport baggage-wrapping policy

Pakistan's civil aviation watchdog has ordered all air travellers to have their checked baggage shrink-wrapped, drawing scorn and criticism from frequent flyers and environmentalists. Shahrukh Nusrat, director general of Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said Sunday that wrapping baggage was now "mandatory", and it was being done for "safety" purposes. Very common in East Africa but elective. More common going to certain high risk for theft airports...like Newark.

Sort of reminds me of the TSA rule that containers with liquids or pastes be in a 1 quart plastic bag.

You can buy one at the airport for two to five dollars. How convenient.

I cannot see how that improves safety, but it does prove that even security is out to pick your pocket at the airport.
