I'm amazed there are that many people wanting/needing to travel between those points to make it a viable revenue route.

I cannot see a B777 doing this unless it's not fully loaded with pax or cargo below the belly of the aircraft.

Delta does ATL to JNB with a 777. I have not checked the distances or whether they are fully loaded with pax and freight.

World Record? How about Singapore Air's discontinued flight from Singapore to New York - a bit over 9500 miles if my memory is correct.

Picture here is the A-380 but Emirates plan to use 777-200LR for this service.

The (referenced) article clearly states the use of an A350 variant for the route.

It clearly states that Singapore will use the 350 for its route. Emirates doesn't even have any 350's on order. They're using 772LR

This must be scheduled carriers only, because the military does longer routes on a weekly basis.
