Two hurt in plane crash at EAA’s Airventure

The aircraft was N339PB, a 1981 Mooney M-20J and was part of the 28 plane Mooney Caravan.

Quoting from mooneyspace.com:
"Landing was on 36R, normally a taxiway, in a tricky quartering tail wind of 8 knots from 240. Plane left the hard surface into the grass, caught a wingtip on a long line of parked trucks and rotated nose first into same line."

I have to make a slight correction, as I was present and saw the end of the crash. The airport was not closed to all landing traffic after the crash. Runway 27/09 remained open and continued to land all traffic and it wasn't closed for 2 hours, it was about an hour and a half. As for the Mooney hitting a parked truck, it didn't appear to be so, but it was hard to say. I have a photo that shows that the engine was ripped off and there was substantial damage to the left wing. It is hard to say, but I would guess he didn't hit a truck. I could be wrong; all I saw was a large cloud of dirt and a broken Mooney.

What a deal another very badly written piece in a paper ya think it was decending when it hit the cars sure wasnt taxing down the street.
