Self reporting and open discussion are bedrocks of our safety system and enviously good results. It’s not helpful when our current U.S. government says it will go after pilots who make mistakes. Speaking of which, where were the FAA and DOT when NUMEROUS reports were coming in of helicopter/aircraft interactions at DCA? Shame on previous administrations that ignored setting up a good safety system in favor of fat cat helo transport.

We don’t know what happened on the flight .
Why suspended?
The fact is , All passengers and crew members were safe .

Made an error, self reported the incident, preventively suspended for the investigation. Soon we can all learn from this, and that is what makes aviation a safe industry. Well done Easyjet and crew!

Made an error??? 3100' on a 6000' altitude restriction, is not in my mind, as an instrument rated pilot, an "error".

We just had a horrific collision in the US where the "error" was less than 200' - so how do you rectify 2900' as being 'ok it's just an error'??

Yes it’s an error, 3000 instead of 6000 is as bad as 200 instead of 400, but it’s still an error. Also I fly to Hurgada often. ATC is also not particularly helpful at times, there may be other contributing factors that we don’t know off. There is no info on the weather, perhaps it was cavok and daylight? In any case it was an error, the corrective actions were correctly taken and they self reported. If you think they are still in the wrong, you have no business in aviation.

I find it easy when coming over the mountains with the airport in sight to start visually descending even though still IFR with a high minimum vectoring altitude. As 91 operator, I usually just cancel and keep flight following on in out of 18,000 ft.

Unfortunately this is not allowed in most Part 121 ops. We used to get a VFR clearance to fly by Mt. Ranier on the way out of SEA. No more.
