With all of the fallout over TSA in recent months I surprised that more airports aren't opting out of TSA. In my opinion, there are still serious issues not being addressed for the total security of any aircraft in the skies such as the cargo holds. I feel very strongly that more should be done to stop the paranoia of TSA and other agencies from spreading and use more appropriate measures for screening the public fairly.

Now that one airport has lead the way with opting out it will be interesting to see in the upcoming months how many others will opt out.

I Know for a fact EYW already has a private security company. I have also heard that SFO is the same way already but not 100% on that one..

Well while we have all this fallout I am sure the terrorist are just waiting for their chance again. Going through the scanners should be mandatory and stop this pat down stuff. Lets see what the goody too shoes say if we have another under ware bomber.

Chrisfsx15: If the security at SFO is going to go back to what it was like before 9-11, non-citizen asians with a work permit, I will stick with today's pat-down.

That's just ALL paranoia talking. ( which is what is fueling TSA to begin with ) Racial profiling and Ethnic targeting is just plain wrong. It's just plain ignorance. Regardless of what measures you put in place, the point is to not violate someone's civil liberties, constitutional rights or right to privacy. It is the job of TSA or any other agency to accomplish security without making us feel like we ourselves are going to jail before stepping on the plane. Which, for them, is an EPIC FAIL.

It reminds some immigrants of the " Iron Curtain ". Not being able to move anywhere without proper visas or permission. As Americans, that's just not where we want to be or have fought so hard for / sacrificed for to ensure we're not.

Home of the brave, land of the free. People looking after each other with a level head and not feeding into the paranoia of mainstream media. Media looks for ratings, not the truth. Don't fuel the fire.

Wonder why? Wonder why people are willing to get naked and their probed in a Dr.'s office who knows them, know their address, know their phone number, etc. which would allow them to be a potential prey to a Dr? TSA agents do not know any of the travelers, or where they are from, or any personal data. So when comparing the 2 situations.......what is the big deal. At the same time I also wonder why cargo is not inspected or checked? TSA says because they are being shipped by confirmed shippers. Oh yeah??????? The shipper maybe confirmed shipper but who was the packer of the package? Is a faceless person somewhere in the USA of any business is less terrorist then a documented traveler? This entire process and TSA needs to be tossed out and re-think. It is just plain laughable anymore. The longer we are at it the worst it gets. My suggestion: have the local police of a person do a background check on the person, submit it to the state department and have everyone be issued a passport afterwards. Now the person is a certified (as best the police can determine) safe traveler. Each person should be compelled to travel only with the passport. NO PASSPORT = NO TRAVEL by any method of transportation. End of searches.
