Couldn't it be the other way around. That since LAWA was advertising for and planning to add more FBO capacity/ competitors at the airport, Maguire chose to sell their business to a competitor with a stronger network. A shotgun wedding of sorts, after the pregnant announcement of upcoming FBO(s), that will be hungry for their lunch.
Considering the airport politics we see in many places elsewhere, anything could be possible. I would certainly take $69 million for my FBO if I had one.
