Frontier Airline’s chief operating officer, Bill Meehan, stepped down from his job effective Jan. 3, the Denver-based carrier said Monday.

“Bill Meehan has left the company for personal reasons, and we wish him well. Jim Nides, vice president-flight operations, is now acting chief operating officer,” said Frontier spokesman Jim Faulkner.

Meehan’s departure comes two weeks after that of Deborah Price, the company’s vice president of customer experience, and following criticism of the airline’s performance during winter storm Decima, the weekend before Christmas.

Hundreds of Frontier flights were canceled and thousands of its passengers were stranded as the carrier struggled to get crews positioned properly.

Meehan joined Frontier in 2014 as COO and was responsible for flight, inflight, maintenance and airport operations, as well as airline safety and security.

Prior to joining Frontier, Meehan was CEO of PEMCO World Air Services, which provided aircraft maintenance and engineering services to carriers, and he oversaw worldwide airport and cargo operations at Continental Airlines.
