Beautiful shot. For those Americans not familiar with the European date, that is February 12, 2018.

Nice weather forecaster. Maybe hurricane chaser?

NOAA42 (N42RF) has been flying through hurricanes and performing other world-wide weather research since 1976. Her sister ship NOAA 43 (N43RF) was placed in service in 1977. Currently NOAA42 is measurin ocean surface winds in winter storms over the North Atlantic. The project helps NOAA calibrate and validate data collected by weather satellite sensors. The project also helps scientists and engineers improve the quality and consistency of satellite-based weather data.

Sometime during the summer of 1961 I had a flight on what was called an Eastern Airline L-188c Electra, from BWI (former Friendship airport) to Hartford, Connecticut. which I feel is the civilian version of the Lockheed P-3 Orion shown here. Can anyone verify the the L-188 came first and then the P-3 Orion was born?
