Great photo of a good looking B-25

Strange colour scheme, which theatre was this designed for?

This is the Navy version of the B-25, a PBJ-1 acquired by the Navy but used by the Marines in the south Pacific. She is painted to represent an aircraft from VMB-611.

Champdiver you are correct. The PBJ-1, the Marine Corp/Navy version of the great B-25. My dad worked on these island hopping the Pacific while we was in the Marines. He told me that he would be in shorts and with out a shirt wail working on them. And he would lean is M-1 Grand on the left main gear, and have is 1911 on is left waist band just in case he had to stop and fight. He also said that some crews would install .50 caliber M-3's on both sides of the airframe. Some even installed 40mm Bofors, 75mm or 106mm recoilless rifle. They where used for anti-shipping or anti surface warfare.

you can come see the PBJ-1J Semper-Fi at KCMA on weekends. Nice CAF museum too.
