CURTISS Commando (N617Z)
Comments
When was this taken? Universal has been out of business for a number of years. Great photo of a real classic.
N617Z was with Zantop Transport. RWY excursion at KSTL 27 April 1966. Don't know if it was written off or not. Thank You pelican! Cheers!!
Photo taken in February or March 1969 at Sept-Îles airport (CYZV). Sept-Îles was a stopover destination for aircraft heading to or returning from Europe. I don't remember if this was the case with this particular C-46. I have a photo of another C-46, CF-CZH, based at YZV who used to haul cargo up north to the iron mines. - DG
The c-47 got most of the glory after WW2, but this plane earned its keep and allowed us to do things tho C-47 just didn't have the legs for. "Long Live Gooney Birds", but these are nice too.
In Panama we called the C46 a "Pregnant Gooney Bird"
