1991?! That photo looks like it was taken in the 70s. But it’s a classic!

Oh dear - that airline in the 1980's - terrible after they went into Chapter 11

Pretty sure the ship #833 was one of our B727-225 airframes with JT8-D17R engines which allowed for exceeding 100% EPR on take-offs if any engine was sensed to falter until the "overdrive" feature was selected off after take-off. This was critical for operations into and out of El Alto, La Paz, Bolivia at 13,300 MSL.A/C was also fitted with extra heavy brakes in anticipation of a rejected T.O if engine failure occurred prior to V1. Fabulous aircraft! I flew them to SA as a check airman and assistant chief pilot for the MIA base of EAL. Probably mid '80's Fabulous airline!

Boy, that A/C was a hot rod. Those JT8-D turbojets screamed power.

Nice vintage photo Richard. Flew on Eastern to Florida many times, maybe on this one ?!?

Eastern, Western, Northeast, Northwest, Southern, North Central...all gone- but Southwest is the survivor! (Did I miss any?)

Lots of leg room and passengers didn't wear pajamas!

@ Mark Albrecht: you missed Air West (aka Hughes Air West), which along with all in your list except Eastern was eventually merged into Delta. Seems Southwest alone in USA still sports a compass-directional name

N8825E to N8850E were the first "stretch" 200's that EAL received in the late sixties. They had the "dash9" engines and after the dash15 and 17's arrived the older model was jokingly referred as "lead sleds" by some crews. Still a great aircraft! My log book has over 9,000 hrs. in both front seats!

Brings back fond memories from my youth!

And I think to myself, what a beautifull bird

@Mark ... don't forget Braniff with all of their different single colored aircraft.
