Eventhough Im not a fan of the way FAA does business these drones/RCs will obviously have to be regulated. Every pilot knows that the airspace around ariel firefighting is restricted. But in usual government fashion the FAA will take forever and wind up being reactive to a tragedy.
Well, you make the comment that "EVERY PILOT" knows of the restricted airspace but the toy and media guys are gonna have to learn it the hard way. You are probably right though, about being reactive to a tragedy. Washington is going to have to realize that technology is moving much faster than bureaucracy and get off their ass and catch up. Hell, some of them are just now realizing that the Internet is there and that there is memory storage available rather than file cabinets full of paper.
