Man wears 70 items of clothing at airport to avoid baggage charge

Размещено

A man took to putting on 70 items of clothing to avoid an extra baggage charge at an airport. The unidentified passenger turned up at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China, described as looking like a 'sumo wrestler'. According to Guangzhou Daily, the man's luggage exceeded the weight limit. He did not want to pay the extra baggage costs, and thus took out and wore more than 60 shirts and nine pairs of jeans. I ship my stuff via FOREX from the USA to Philippines before leaving the USA. You can send a 18"X20"X30" box weighing up to 150 pounds for about $100. Try that on an airplane!!! We each take a backpack with our emergency clothes and cash in them.

Must have been on his way straight to the open Market at Muthaiga Mall to resell them for if he got those shirts and jeans on over top of each other he had to have lots of XXXL sizes.

Many people flying routes like this take large amounts of items to sell at the destination to recover ticket costs.

Say what you want, but I find his action creative! The airlines don't want to adjust their fares because of "competition". (Southwest does just fine by the way by not charging for normal baggage.) So they want to limit what you can bring as a carry-on, and then charge you for bags. I love it.

That people put up with such bullshit is whats unbelievable. I'd rather fly my 182 at night in moderate to severe turbulence with 2 inches of rime ice plastered to my windshield than spend one second on an airliner sitting between two snot nosed college kids glued to their Iphone20's and drinking Starbucks coffee.lol

LOL, but when you read on.... you see that "Wanting to board a flight to Nairobi, Kenya, he was stopped by the metal detector and had to undergo a full body search.

That probably took so long that he missed his flight!

I've heard of a family (before baggage charges were so high) who actually moved the majority of their boxes along with them on a flight to their new home because it was cheaper than a moving van. Them days are gone forever, but I thought it was quite creative of them. Who'd have thunk it.

Maybe the airlines should surcharge if the total weight of the baggage and the person is over some number.

Ha ha ! Love it ! Did they make him pay for an extra seat though? ... because I doubt he fit into just one seat with that many layers on !?

I dont blame him. Whats with these effin airlines these days. Last time I flew on Allegiant Air was the Last time I will fly on Allegiant Air. There wasnt enough leg room for a midget much less an average sized person. They allowed each passenger one carry on bag with a total capacity of about 1 cubic centimeter. If you put the designer of their airplanes brain on the edge of a razor blade it would look like a BB rolling down a 4-lane highway.

Seriously??? What else will people do to get a cheap fare!! Not going to get away with it! Listen up, passengers...it is what it is...GET OVER IT! Can't get anything for free! Although, you are trying your damnest to suck the life out of. The airline! Thank you , Mr.President, Jimmy Carter, for deregulation! This is the result of what ever you were thinking! The fall of the airline industry as we used to know it!

I agree, as I would think most will, this man has taken an extreme route. However, in these days of high unemployment and economically difficult times we have to do what we have to do to make money stretch as far as possible. (Not to mention that this man, I'm reasonably certain, was probably a bit of a jokester while at the same time making a point, which it seems he accomplished.)

Someone who wants to sell them at a flea market at the other end of the flight to help recoup the expenses? Just a guess.

I think his relatives fly Spirit and do the same thing. I've been behind them several times in the "Check Baggage" line. Sometimes they shift stuff from one suitcase to the other (while everybody else waits for them to finish).
