KLM 747 Lands with Gear Malfunction Damaging Aircraft [PHOTO] [VIDEO]

Размещено

A KLM jet landed at Amsterdam’s Polderbaan Airport yesterday with is right main body gear out of alignment bursting the tires and prompting an emergency call from the pilots. KLM Flight 612, a Boeing 747-400, came to a stop just off runway 18R where fire crews met the plane. The passengers disembarked from stairs. There were no injuries reported. The 747′s gear scraped on its wheels during rollout. The damage appears to be only relagated to the gear itself. (airnation.net) Ещё...

Too bad the subtitles were in Dutch.

Out of alignment is a little bit of an understatement. Kinda reminds me of the Jet Blue nose gear out at LAX awhile back.

I did notice the video was dated January of 2012. Slow news day?

Thrustt I have no idea who the gents are, but they seem to hit many threads and hit the Eject for the heck of it. I gave you a Bounce up to make it a 0, but really these guys need to get a life.

Stuff breaks whether it is new or old....you can try to avoid it but if it is going to fail it is going fail regardless of how well you try to maintain it.

Last I heard, they run a pretty tight ship over there.

You may be correct in speaking of some airlines but I think that you are way off base on KLM. As chalet says here, they are reknowned for their maintenance. Stuff does break, no matter how well maintained. I note all PAX deplaned on the stairways and no injuries. Class operation.IMHO

I work Maintenance control... All of of phone calls are recorded even to the mechanics that we instruct. The ACARS Communication is documented, and if the crew is in the cockpit it is all saved on the CVR and sometimes the FDR... Where are you hiding the maintenance. Everything that happens on the plane has a paper trail. Most people think planes fly on Jet Fuel. Those who really know the industry knows this is not true... they actually fly on PAPER!

You don't what the hell you are talking about, KLM is recognized all over the world as running one of the best of maintenance. Machines are not perfect creatures and sometimes problems arise.
