Great photo! Navy version of the F-86 Sabre known as the FJ-4. Took a while to identify it. Thank you for the photo.

Is that a recent pic?

Is it really an FJ4 or just painted ? I don't think I see an arrestor hook

This FJ-4B Fury and the F-86 Sabre were built by the same company and look similar, but that's where all the similarities end.

The Fury has a larger and different shaped intake, the fuselage is deeper, the canopy is different and has a taller spine running back to the taller vertical fin. The wings are different with folding tips, the nose gear is taller and mounted well forward, the main gear is a trailing link design. All those items are visibly different from a F-86.

The arrester hook is mounted just aft of the wing and tucks in so it's not visible because of the flaps and speed brakes in this photo.

This FJ-4B is based in Driggs ID and would be at nearby Idaho Falls, because Pacific Fighters, a Warbird rebuilder is based there.
I'm sure this photo is current, thanks for the great photo Austin.

This was taken on July 22nd of this year.

According to the announcer, this is the last flying example of its type in the world. And it is indeed based out of Driggs!
